What happens to the Uk Citizens living in Italy after Brexit?

With 10 weeks to go, the British people have no idea whether Brexit will happen or not. There is a vote on the Brexit Deal in parliament on Tuesday. If the vote fails, which is widely expected, the default option is for the UK to leave the EU on 29th March 2019 without a deal.

The UN, in figures published in February 2018, stated that there are 25,000 UK citizens living in Italy. Most of them will not have bothered to register with their local “Ufficio Anagrafe” to become residents.

Very, very few who have lived in Italy for 5 years or more will have registered for:

attestazione/attestato di soggiorno permanente per cittadini UE.

Many more UK citizens, probably the same number as residents, who want to visit Italy for more than 3 months will be clueless as to what the future holds.
